The synchronous electric generator and motor. 10 points promised?

Posted by admin

Who invented them? I can't find it.

If nobody can find it, can they please tell me whether it was Tesla's work that lead to the synchronous electric generator and motor? I know Tesla invented the induction motor and generator, and the synchronous machines are really a form of these. Just slightly changed.. If so, I can just say that.

Thanks in advance. 10 points for best answer.

In order to invent a DC generator with a commutator, it would have been necessary to realize that the current in a loop of wire rotating in a magnetic field changes direction as the loop rotates. A commutator is essentially a mechanical rectifier that rectifies the alternating current that is generated in the rotating wire coils and provides a rotating connection to conduct direct current away from the rotor. However, the developers of DC generators would have considered the alternating current in the rotor to be a problem to be solved rather than something useful. Once Tesla proved that alternating current was something useful, various approaches to building an AC generator would have been obvious to anyone who knew how to build a DC generator.

Wikipedia has a huge amount of information and lots of links from one article to another in Wikipedia as well as links to external sources. Most of the information is quite accurate, but there are errors and exaggerations. Here is a page of links to articles related to electric generators:

I need an owners manual for a Dayton standby power generator.?

Posted by admin

I'm not sure how old it is, it has a 10 horse Briggs engine and runs on propane. Model number 3W056

Have you tried searching for the manufacturers website? We moved 4 years ago and misplaced several of our owners manuals for our lawn and garden equipment and I printed entire manuals for most of them from the websites.

Propane consumption in gallons per hour to power a 2,500 watt Onan generator?

Posted by admin

I agree with Oil Field Trash… We got there different ways but the answer is the same!

A 25kW generator consumes 5 gallons per hour at full load. 2500 watts = 2.5 kW which is 1/10th of 25…1/10th of 5 gallons is a half gallon!

Just remember, that these numbers are when the generator is at full load. Also, things like ambient air temperature and humidity can affect the efficiency of the engine, so weather could affect the consumption a bit…

Have you been stocking up on flashlights, candles and power generators?

We’re heading into a modern Dark Age.

I’ve got more candles than you can shake a stick at. But probably still not enough to lighten up your question.

Do all portable generators run on gas??

Posted by admin

Most of the small portable generators — the kind that you could put in the back of a truck — run on gas. You might be able to find one that runs on propane, but I have never seen one.

Larger portables — the kind that you would tow behind a truck — generally run on diesel. A few run on gas or propane.

I have also seen smaller generators that run on kerosene.

When someone dies, why is the status of “Onan” only for 24 hours?

Posted by admin

And what happens if the funeral is more than 24 hours away?

Man, that rigor mortis reference was kinda obscure wasn’t it?

How deep should I bury a natural gas line running through my yard to a generator?

Posted by admin

To be safe call your local building and zoning department to see if there is a code on this.

Also call your local gas or LP company and ask them for a recommendation.

If you are stubborn and still don't want to make the call, the minimum that I have ever heard of as a regulation for a buried line was telephone at 24 inches.

The real question you have to ask yourself is; how deep do you need to be for safety? 20 years from now when the location of the line has been forgotten and someone is driving a stake for a volleyball net in the yard or a laundry pole or — you get the picture.

What is the difference between a Hans Grohe Interactiv shower and a Kohler Jetted Shower?

Posted by admin

I have a Hans Grohe Interactiv jetted shower, but I was thinking about the Kohler. Aside from price, what is the difference?

Well depending on the model you have and what type you're thinking about, it's basically the features they have. The Kohler has more choices type of in features, style , and if it has versatile installation; new/ existing construction.
