propane water boiler + electric water heater or electric oil heater?

which is more energy efficient as a supplement heat to our house water boiler. The boiler is radiated heat in a closed system. We need to lower our propane bill so we want to add a heater to the living room/kitchen (we have a very open floor plan, but lots of windows)
This extra heat will be powered by a 400 watt wind generator. We get no sun in the winter. We are going to set it up without batteries (for now). It runs when the wind blows. It’s supplemental heat. I only have money for one wind turbine.
Which radiates heat faster water or oi? Oh, the oil is a closed system and the water will not be. I don’t mind the humidity or refilling the water if it’s worth it.

some days the wind blows all day and others only in spurts. I want the heater to heat fast more then raidate longer.
Guru - I livei n Upper Michigan by the lake. The 400 watts is at about 30 mph. I can get about 68 watts at 14 mph. with 20+ gust on a regular bases. That might be more doable. That won’t warm up a heating element no matter if it is in water or oil. will it? My propane bill was $3,000 last year and that was with a $200 savings for dropping the house down to 68. HELP!

There are very many variables to your question.
Where do you live?
In Quebec electricity cost hardly anything, gas like propane is very expensive compared to US like New York.
Wind power is excellent for heating. The power factor is 1!
That is you need more heat when there is more wind, don’t need any storage and complex regulator controls.
So the answer depends very much on the target objectives.
Gas is very powerful compared to electricity; a whole lot more heat a lot faster. Electricity is more economical to maintain the heat even.

The site you refer, 400W at what wind speed? 100MPH?
A hair dryer consumes 1500W

a short timee later and nothing. It smells as if it is flooding with gas as it is turning over and will not start. Information is appreciated….

A few things to check would be the spark plug, if it is fouled with oil or soaked in gas then I would just replace it, and 2 years with no fuel stabilizer in the tank, the gas will be bad, drain it and put some new stuff in.

i was wondering wether there is a website for how renewable and non-renewable power generators work?

The terms ‘renewable’ and ‘non-renewable’ are ill defined media labels relating to the fuel = and have nothing to do with power generators per se.

For example, run a standard diesel power generator off fuel oil and it’s ‘non-renewable’ - run the same off Sunflower Oil (bio-diesel) and it’s ‘renewable’

PS Global Warming is going to happen ,.. instead focusing on ‘carbon neutral’ distractions and similar time-wasting irrelevancies, we should be focusing on moving our towns & cities to higher ground …..

I want to make a wind power generator so that I can put it on the roof of my home.

Has anybody done this? They seem to be fairly popular now

a generator is a generator. it doesnt matter if you have an ox pulling the sucker around. you just need gears to change the direction of your mechanical energy. maybe your question is how do you make a generator?
