Omnitek Diesel-to-Natural Gas Conversions featured on Fox News

Omnitek Engineering, Corp. (OMTK) develops and sells new natural gas engines, as well as a proprietary technology to convert diesel engines to natural gas. This system has established Omnitek as a leader in the industry. Omnitek offers a total-system approach and is dedicated to supplying alternative energy and emissions control solutions that are sustainable, affordable and contribute to combat global warming.
As long as the price of crude oil increase and the threat of global warming and air pollution remains, the search for an alternative fuel becomes increasingly important. Natural gas has emerged as a perfect solution to these challenges. Readily available in many countries from indigenous sources, natural gas is inexpensive and clean burning.
Diesel engines have been the backbone of the transportation and power generation industry. Valued for their power, fuel economy and durability, diesel powered trucks, buses and generators are used worldwide, however, they are heavy polluters and significantly contribute to global warming. Omnitek has developed a system to convert any existing diesel engine to a clean-burning natural gas engine at a fraction of the cost of a new engine and estimates the population of diesel engines around the world, which can be converted using the Omnitek Diesel-to-Natural Gas Conversion System and offer the best ROI, approaching ten million engines.

Generac 150kW Natural Gas fired Standby Generator - Industrial, 13.3L Hino, 277/480V
Posted by admin
Selling this on ebay. It’s a Generac industrial SG150 series, 277/480V 3 Phase 225 amp, 60hz @ 1800 RPM. 187 kva. Manufacture date is 12/11/1998. It has ONLY 48 HOURS ON IT. Runs like a new generator. Powered by a 13.3L Hino 6 cylinder engine, runs on natural gas, 7-11″ water column gas pressure and probably around 1.2 million btu’s per hour needed when at 100% full load. The gas inlet is a 2″ line… if that gives you any idea. 24 volt starter, takes 2 big 12V batteries in series. The controller compartment had a big mice nest in it so it took a lot of wire repair and cleanup to get it going again. There’s a good amount of corrosion in the compartment but all the connections seem solid, it fires right up and stabilizes in about 10 seconds.

how do i convert a propane engine to a natural gas engine?
Posted by admin
i have a 16 HP engine on a generator that i want to change to natural gas. i don’t know how or where to find the kit. thank you
Going from LP to natural gas (methane) is a simple mixture adjustment usually. The mixture is adjusted via a variable restriction between the venturi and the zero pressure regulator. Do beware though that your existing natural gas meter, regulator, and piping may have to be upgraded to handle the flow requirements of an engine along with your other gas appliances. Also beware that the engine power output will drop some so the output capacity (watts) may be slightly reduced on NG.

is it economical to use a propane generator for your home 24/7 ? The home has total electric and my husband?
Posted by admin
husband is looking for something that he can use for power that is more economical. (no natural gas lines)
No, not if you are talking about running this all the time 24/7, if this is what you are implying to here.
You can not run a home on any generator as cheap as the utility company sells it for. Now if you are referring to a back up system just in case power goes off then yes propane is not bad as far as the cost goes. With the prices of fuels Propane for me right now is less expensive then diesel fuel is, which diesel gen set would be a good option as well.
If you are talking about a total electric home with heat you are talking a big generator anyway I would not use anything less then a 23.5 kw or larger if you are in a cold climate. depends on your actual demand but if you have electric heat they use a lot. As compared to a home with gas heat and they can get by with some as small as 9 .5 kw to get them by.
If you want to check in to green or free power solar does help as well as a windmill. The initial cost is very expensive to start though.

what size generator do i need?

I’m looking into buying a propane or natural gas powered generator. I want to run my garage on it full time. I need to be able to power only about 5,000w. About how much am I looking at for the generator, and the cost per month in gas to run it. Just a guesstimation really.. thanks
You would be better off buying a gen set used and you can get them for dealers (propane type) or get a 6500 watt generator at sam club less expensive (gasoline type)
A circular saw 12 amp will use 1440 watts, a drill about 600 watts or so etc.
A few lights and maybe a small motor say a furnace you should be ok.
Propane generators are more expensive to run but a 30 lb tank would last you maybe 8 hrs hours depending on what you are running.(full load)
To fill one depends on where you live, about 15 bucks or so for a 20 lb tank and about 25 bucks to fill a 30 lb tank.
I suggest you do some research and see what you can find on the net.
Good Luck:)
