i have a onan generator 5.0 diesel and i am having problems with fuel pump?

keeping it running it only runs if i feed the fuel to it could this be cause buy the fuel pump and is there a way for me to check it.

start by changing the fuel filter. If the fuel pump has a manual primer on it crack the fuel lines to the injectors and pump the primer, if it doesn’t prime it’s a good indication of a faulty pump. If the gen will run try cracking the injector lines to see if you have a faulty injector
